Pricing and Quotes
Money questions come first on almost every call, so they come first here. The short version: nothing gets charged until you have seen the figure and said yes to it.
How does the $0 call out actually work?
We come out, look at the job and give you a written quote, and the trip itself costs nothing, so you only ever pay for work you have approved.
Do I approve the price before any work starts?
Always. The quote lands in writing, you say yes or no, and what you approve is what you pay. A declined quote means we leave with nothing owing.
Is after-hours work more expensive?
There is no charge to attend at any hour, the quote still comes before any work begins, and the price is agreed before a tool comes out.
Do you charge by the hour?
Not on most jobs. We quote the work as a whole, so a slow fitting does not tick the meter up and you know the total before we start.
Availability and Bookings
Speed and scheduling come next, usually straight after a burst hose or a cold shower. The Fernleigh Track might fly past the traffic, but vans still run on roads and schedules.
How fast can a plumber get to my place?

Do you offer same-day service?
Where the schedule allows, yes. Burst flexi hoses and cold cylinders on a clear winter morning are the usual urgent calls, and genuine flooding jumps the queue.
Which suburbs around here do you cover?

What plumbing work do you actually handle?
The full range, domestic and commercial: the general plumbing hub covers bathrooms, kitchens, gas and meters, while emergency plumbing covers the calls that cannot sit overnight. Also drainage.
Are your plumbers licensed for gas fitting too?
Yes. Cooktop connections, BBQ lines and heater runs are all licensed gas work with the compliance paperwork that goes with them, and you will see the licence details on the day.
Do you take on drainage jobs, or mains only?
Everything from a choked kitchen waste to a collapsed clay run. Blocked drains is the common call here, and a camera sorts a cleanable blockage from a sheared pipe.
My house has galvanised pipes. Can they be replaced?
Yes, and often here. Cottages from the Burwood Colliery decades still run steel services under the floors, and swapping those to copper brings the pressure back at the taps.
Is fibro a problem for re-piping work?
Regularly handled. Detached weatherboard, fibro and brick veneer homes make up most of the housing here, and re-piping those wall systems is bread-and-butter work for us, not a novelty.
Can you supply fixtures, or do we buy them?
Both ways work. You can buy the suite or appliance and we install it, or we can source it and the price sits on the same quote.
Local Questions
The housing and the bushland around here shape which problems turn up, so a few questions come up again and again from people on the older streets.
Why do the drains on the older streets keep blocking?
Two structural reasons: streets named in the 1950s waves were sewered in clay, and eucalypt roots off the Glenrock bushland chase the moisture in from both sides.
Are hot water replacements common in this suburb?
Very common. Each building wave from the seventies through the nineties brought its own cohort of tanks, and the earlier ones are well past their working years now.
Do storms cause trouble up on the ridge?
A different sort than low-lying suburbs get. There is no flood-prone land here, but stalled storm cells pond water where streets dip toward the old rail cutting.
Is the problem mine to fix, or Hunter Water's?
Depends where the fault sits. Fixtures and branch lines on your block are yours; the mains belong to Hunter Water, so we locate the fault first and then tell you which side of the boundary it falls on.
